Further Behind, Beyond, and Bewildering: The Daft Punk Pyramid

So while I was at Vegoose I kept on noticing these guys in some amazing satin baseball jackets with an immaculately stitched daft punk logo circa the Homework album.

Like nyyyeah:

Confused and baffled I continued to wonder if they were part of the Daft Punk road crew, stage crew and what not. Turns out they are the wonderful purveyors of the fantastic Solidgoldberger Blog. (I was tipped off to this by San Fran’s Disco Workout). Talk about a diamond in the rough. Ethan Goldgerber is a saint.

He has taken it upon himself to archive the greater majority of Roule, Scratche, (Thomas Bangalter’s labels) and Crydamore (Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo’s label). I must be honest that when I was younger and these tracks were fresh and hot, I wasn’t all that into it. Music Sounds Better With You was an instant pleaser, but the rest were lost on me. Thanks to this/these gentlemen, there’s a second chance to appreciate it. Seriously, head to Solidgoldberger right now. You’d be doing yourself a disservice by wasting even a single moment not checking out the combined works of both members of Daft Punk, DJ Falcon, Alan Braxe, et al…

And here’s some real juicy shit..

Some fan has taken it upon themselves to recreate the motions that Daft Punk makes behind the Pyramid with the use of Abelton Live. I myself have never used Ableton, most of my knowledge of the technicalities of creating electronic music come from the use of hardware MIDI sequencers, synths, and software emulators like ReBirth, and Reason. Yet, this is truly proactive stuff. So check it:

And it’s not worth posting unless we’re getting sexy with some music at some point: NASTY!

These are my current favorite Daft Punk remixes, one off each album, ya ya ya….

Daft Punk – Da Funk (Casino Remix)

Daft Punk – Harder Better Faster Stronger (Jools FM Bandwagon Remix)

Daft Punk – Technologic (Digitalism’s Highway to Paris Remix)

P.S. Spining, oh shit, friday. I’m hoping for a lot of 90’s ghetto booty! All me, all night. Wussup Wussup!

  1. dude, the videos of ableton in use are out of control. watching that makes me long for that power.

  2. wow is great what you’ve done with live! i love daft punk, and alive 2007 is awesome. i read they did it with ableton live and i was just amazed, since i’ve been using live for about a year for composing my music.

it’s so nice what you’ve done. i’ll try to mix daft punk one day.
